  Chris Monzel
Chris MonzelCouncilman Chris Monzel's passion for public service is the result of years of serving the communities in which he lived. He has held the position of trustee for the Mt. Adams Civic Association and served as vice-president of the Winton Place Community Council. Currently he is an active member of Spring Grove Village's Citizens on Patrol group. While serving his community, Chris learned neighborhood issues first- hand and came to understand the problems facing Cincinnati.

On Cincinnati City Council Chris serves as the Chairman of the Education, Health & Recreation Committee, sits on the Law & Public Safety Committee, the Rules Committee, and the Economic Development Committee. His many years of council service have earned him a reputation for reducing taxes, curtailing City spending and fighting crime.

In previous years, Chris took the lead in going after Cincinnati's worst slumlords. Monzel was instrumental in the creation of Hamilton County's Housing Docket. Instead of facing civil fines for building violations, slumlords are sent to the Housing Docket to face criminal penalties. The Docket was established at no extra expense to taxpayers.

Chris understands that Cincinnati needs to take major steps in order to attract and maintain homeowners. Consistently each year, Chris fights to maintain a property tax rollback that prevents homeowners from facing increased property taxes due to rising property values. Monzel's efforts have help save City taxpayers millions of dollars throughout the years.

Chris is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. He furthered his education by earning Masters degrees in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is currently employed as an engineer at General Electric in Evendale.

Chris and his wife Jana reside in Spring Grove Village and are proud parents of three children: Mary Grace, Jacob and Andrew.
